I remember when Colette brought you home to our little 11th floor flat, which was also home to two cats and a budgie! One of our little cats, Willow felt threatened by the presence of your scent at first then when she first saw you she felt so threatened and ailenated that she began a campaign of scent spraying of her own! Imagine a cat feeling threatened by such an innocent little guy like you ?
But anyways Colette looked after you for five days and nights after which I could see that she was feeling the strain of seeing to your wonderful little necessities, like feeding you every two hours. So it was that upon the sixth night that I volunteered to relieve her of another nightwatch and to take command of your welfare until the next morn.
My alarm was set, and at the 4th alarm it sounded on cue and I awoke.
I looked into the little box where your samll home was established and there you were, so I reached in and picked you up and the coldness that I felt eminating from your little body worried me and I hugged you to warm you up. Then I bottle-fed you your formula using the pipette . You refused. You could not swallow and the liquid spilled out of your mouth and down your little cheast.
I knew you weren't well so I stopped feeding you to let you rest when I noticed that you were still cold, so cold and unable to swallow.
Little Munchkin, this is when I ask you to forgive me. It was my ignorance that convinced me to lay you back to bed atop a hot water bottle covered with a t-shirt.
As I turned away from you to sleep yet again on the sofa, you were no more than six inches from my grasp, yet when I heard you cry out three little sighs I shamefully thought nothing more of it.
Two hours later I awoke and something told me to check in on you. I lifted up your bedding to see how you were faring.........you were cold, so cold and silent. Yes even colder than you were a mere two hours before. I knew you were in trouble and I called to Colette for advice.
She found a faint little heart beat in your young fragile body, we tried to revieve you but it was to no avail: you had already passed on to the next world.
I miss you little guy and I will write again.
Please be happy in your new life and please know that I still love you and will always miss you.
Goodbye for now little guy :)))
